Surveys have found a rich flora clinging on at the site’s margins, and a valuable bird assemblage

We’ve been delighted to find that The Meadowlands is already a valuable site for wildlife. By working with expert ecologists to conduct a baseline survey we’ve recorded 785 species so far, already including many rare birds and insects.

This baseline has helped us design our site management, for example ensuring we don’t create new woodland on valuable grassland, as well as providing a benchmark to compare future changes to the site against. There are many groups that we haven’t surveyed yet, including funghi and bats, so do let us know if you can help!
