FunghiFunghi will benefit as we increase the deadwood on site and expand our existing woodlands
We haven't conducted a thorough Funghi survey yet, but have nonetheless recorded 26 species so far.
Most species have been recorded in our woodland, like Scarlet Elfcup Sarcoscypha coccinea, Candlesnuff Fungus Xylaria hypoxylon, and Glue Crust Hydnoporia corrugata.
Our light grassland management by cattle is not conducive to waxcaps, which prefer short, sheep-grazed fields, but alongside paths and tracks we have nonetheless recorded a handful of waxcaps including Scarlet Waxcap Hygrocybe coccinea and Crimson Waxcap Hygrocybe punicea.
Having moved from sheep grazing to cattle grazing, we are increasingly finding coprophilous (dung-loving) funghi such as Petticoat Mottlegill Panaeolus papilionaceus and Cheilymenia species.
